A former horse trainer in Australia who was left paraplegic as a result of being crushed by a trapped horse has reached a $300,000 settlement in his compensation claim against the stables that employed him.

Glenn Hancock, 59, suffered serious injuries on 22 September, 2006 while working at the Riverend Park stables, just outside Melbourne.

His job included the task of breaking in young horses. He alleged that Riverend Park was negligent in its duty to provide him with a safe workplace.

Mr Hancock had already agreed to pay his injury solicitors $100,000 to fight the case. He was awarded an additional $455,000 under the Accident Compensation Act.
