Road Traffic Accident

A group of 24 British tourists are set to start legal action for compensation after a court ruled that their tour operator was liable for the injuries they suffered in a bus crash.

Birmingham Crown Court decided in the favour of the tourists after ruling that an error by the driver led to the accident during which the tourists’ coach tumbled down banking and overturned.

Anthony Wilkinson, who is among the plaintiffs, told the Hunts Post newspaper that the incident had destroyed his holiday and left him suffering with a personal injury.

After a prolonged five-year legal battle against package holiday provider Crystal/TUI UK Limited, the tourists have been granted permission to make compensation claims worth hundreds of thousands of pounds.

Mr Wilkinson said: “I’m pleased with the result and feel that justice has finally been done.”
