The ex-girlfriend of former Chelsea footballer Claude Makélélé wants compensation from the sports star for various alleged assaults he carried out during their two-year relationship.
Thandi Ojeer, 35, told the court she was punched and strangled in 2010. Subsequently, she is claiming £70,000 in compensation from the star.
He has denied her claim of “violence” which is alleged to have taken place in the footballer’s £1m home in Paris.
Makélélé now coaches at Paris Saint-Germain, a French club side where he finished his playing career.
The incident is alleged to have happened when Ms Ojeer had confronted Makélélé over a gate which had been left opened. According to Ms Ojeer’s lawyer she had been punched in the face by Makélélé and needed hospital treatment for a jaw injury.
Her lawyer Stanislas Panon said: “She is quite traumatised and had a tooth loosened, but she’s faced with complete denial (from Makélélé). She was not well known (before the incident) and because she was an events organiser this was detrimental to her (career).”
Makélélé was not in court but claimed she had scratched him and grabbed him around the neck.
His lawyer said she had “tried to force her way into his home, and then tried to pass herself off as a victim”.
According to police reports the ex-midfield player had said the pair had split and he did not want her at his house.
She said in court she had gone to collect her clothes.
The case has been adjourned.
