A US woman has filed a lawsuit against the owners of a horse that she says charged into her car and caused her injuries.
The woman, Melva Lee Yates, says that as she was was driving her Pontiac along the road in November 2008, a horse owned by the defendants, Gerald and Connie Cummings, charged into her vehicle.
The resulting accident caused Ms Yates to suffer from personal injuries to her back, right hip, and right knee which caused her to incur medical costs. She also claims that she suffered from ‘great pain and mental anguish’, and had to miss some days at work.
The accident claim goes on to say that in Ms Yates’ opinion, the Cummings’ negligently failed to keep their horse under proper control, failed to keep it penned in a corral and did not take adequate measures to prevent the horse from injuring her.
She is seeking compensation for over $200,000, (£128,000) plus costs.
