Business Empire Heir Wins £1m for Motor Bike Accident
Posted on Jul 02, 2009
An heir to a sportswear business empire has won £1million in compensation after a motorbike crash led to him suffering brain damage and becoming "a totally changed man".
An 8 year legal battle has finally resulted in 38 year old Bijan Fouladgar being awarded the damages by the High Court.
Mr Fouladgar's brain damage happened as a result of an accident in May 2001. He suffered near fatal head injuries when his motorbike crashed into a van which was performing a U-turn in the Blackfriars underpass.
Mr Fouladgar's head injuries have resulted in him having difficulty processing information and concentrating, and difficulty controlling what was described in court as his "hair trigger temper". The High Court was also told how he is a shadow of his "work hard, play hard", ambitious, sport, entrepreneurial former self and that he is also now vulnerable to exploitation by others.
Before his motorbike accident, Mr Fouladgar was expected to follow in the footsteps of his parents who had founded the successful London Joggers Ltd sportswear retail company.
In commenting on the case, Mr Fouladgar said: "I'm very pleased it's over. This has been eight years of my life tied up in this. Now I can finally try to get on with living my life."
The insurance company the van driver's employer, Southover Food Company, have agreed to the £1 million settlement.
